It’s just a few days away from the big day when Footwear design and development institute will hold its AIST joint entrance exam for admission to various undergraduate and post graduate courses in footwear design and development. The exam is due to be held on 7thJune 1017-9th June 2017.Applicant are gearing to seek admission in various courses as it guarantees a lucrative career. Not only does it open various aspects and career fields but also exposes the students to international market in the field of footwear and leather goods.

The leather good industry in India itself is booming as the demand for footwear and leather goods is increasing with every passing day. There was a time when people did not pay much attention to their footwear and would be happy with just one or two pairs of shoes, however things are not the same now. Now a day’s people like to team up different kind of shoes with different kind of clothes. FDDI in the recent past has completed very critical projects such as manufacturing footwear for police and personnel from air force. Other than that they have also come up with specialised shoes to cater to the demand of people below the poverty line. These type of shoes are known as the budget shoes.

The main aim of FDDI is that each and every person in India must have a proper footwear to wear in different climatic condition. The students therefore are taught to understand the demand and thus decide on a suitable price which can be affordable by the consumer. Specialized footwear manufactured by FDDI for police and air force and budget footwear for poor people

In the recent past footwear and leather good industry has seen a prominent boom, not just in the domestic market but also in the international market. However when statistics is compared India is still very low in consumption of footwear in comparison to the international users. Where international users consume 6 footwear in a year, India only uses just 1 shoe in a year.

This is mainly due to lack of resources and less of monetary help. The poor people are not able to afford more than one footwear, therefore have to do with just one. Keeping this in mind the ministry of Commerce decided to engage an institute which will be able to provide budget footwear which even the poor people can afford. This range is known as the budget range of footwear. The main idea of making cheap and affordable footwear available is that all the people in India have access to safe footwear especially during winters and adverse climate.

Apart from budget footwear FDDI has also produced and manufactured specialised footwear for police and air force personal who require robust footwear in order to cater to adverse situations. Students in FDDI are taught how to make specialised footwear which will last a long time and are at the same time light weight. FDDI also wishes to take care of the international demand ,thus teaches its students how to understand the international demand and understand the requirements which are quite different from the domestic demand.

Why footwear and leather industry is growing leaps and bounds

India is rapidly developing not only in one field but in every field. There was a time when India had not even liberalised its economy and was not ready to trade with the rest of the world. However after liberalization in 1991, India is now open to trade with the international world, though some sectors are still not completely opened.

One of the sectors which is rigorously operating in export import is the leather good sector. India not only exports leather goods and footwear from rest of the world but also imports a lot of things pertaining to footwear and leather goods. In order to reduce the imports and increase the exports it is very important to strengthen our skills and obtain better quality raw material.

With the FDDI bill being passed in Lok sabha and the ministry of commerce being so eager to help the footwear and leather goods sector, India definitely see leather goods and footwear sector to be its golden hen. Keeping in mind this progress FDDI is trying to increase its capacity of students by opening new institutes so that more and more students can seek admission and thus contribute to the footwear and leather goods industry in India. There is a vast demand from the west as far as footwear is concerned which is currently being fulfilled by China. India is still quite behind as compared to china as we do not have killed manpower. In order to have skilled manpower FDDI is trying its level best to provide skills and relevant knowledge in the field of footwear and leather goods so that we are able to take care of both our domestic demand as well as the international demand which unfortunately we are not able to cater.

FDDI preparing students, to take control of the excess demand in the field of footwear from both domestic as well as the world market

There is a lot about Footwear design and development institute is  in news lately as it has been approved by the Rajya sabha and is due to be approved in the Lok Sabha. Once the Fddi bill will be approved in both the houses then automatically a lot of investment will be poured in the footwear and leather goods segment. The Ministry of commerce currently is also working quite hard to uplift the sector as it has a lot of potential.

It has been seen that there is a lot of demand of both leather goods as well as footwear both domestically as well as internationally which India is not able to take care of. Since India has a lot of skill full people but alas they are not trained to use the modern techniques, therefore FDDI along with the ministry of commerce aims at training more and more people so that they are able to make use of their skills and are able to make use of their modern facilities and are able to deliver better quality products at a cheaper price.

The FDDI offers both undergraduate as well as post graduate courses which not only prepares student in practical aspect but also teaches them the theoretical aspect of manufacturing a footwear. FDDI aiming to pump in more and more skilled resources into the market to full fill domestic as well as international demand

With growing demand of fashion and footwear there has been a continuous increase in demand for leather goods and especially footwear. Not only it looks stylish but are also long lasting. Leather footwear are a must have as formal wear and are also an essential part of many emergency service workers. FDDI which stands for footwear design and development institute in the recent past have manufactured specialised footwear for police and air force since they need special and robust footwear which can last in adverse terrain.

Apart from high quality footwear, FDDI is also engage in producing budget footwear for the common man so that every person in India has protection for its feat. Unfortunately when compared to the western world, on an average, India wear 1 shoes per year as regards the west where people wear 5-6 shoes per year. After analysing these kind of data, the Ministry of Commerce not only wants to supply more and more shoes for domestic consumption at an affordable price but also wants to cater to the demand form the rest of the world.

At the moment most of the worlds demand is fulfilled by China as India lacks skilled resources who can manufacture quality leather good. Therefore the main aim of footwear design and development institute is to train and pump in more and more skilled resources into production of leather good and footwear. Therefore FDDI is offering both undergraduate as well as post graduate courses to youngsters who would be trained both academically as well as practically so that they can understand the actual manufacturing process and thereby full fill the surplus demand from India as well as other countries.

The joint entrance exam AIST for admission to FDDI is just around the corner and candidates are getting ready to crack the joint entrance exam in order to seek admission to variety of courses in undergraduate courses, post graduate courses and integrated courses. The bachelor courses is for 3 years and the master course is for 2 years which are offered in various campuses. The integrated course which is of 5 years is offered only in two campuses namely Noida and Rohtak.

Noida is the main campus which is blessed with state of the art facilities and is known for its top class education. Apart for architectural beauty the FDDI provides world class education in footwear development and design, which is in comparison to the most of the international universities.

The curriculum is very well formulated which has the correct blend of both theoretical knowledge as well as creative knowledge. The faculty members make sure to provide maximum exposure to students by taking the to industry and factory visits which helps them understand the actual manufacturing process which brings in immense confidence in the students. Apart from manufacturing, students are also taught how to price and market the final product so that they can supersede with other competitors and win majority of world market. Unfortunately right now there is a dearth of skilled resources in the field of footwear design and development therefore due to this gap, China is taking advantage of the surplus demand which India is unable to fulfil and is currently worlds number 1.

Keeping this in mind, the Ministry of commerce is making every possible effort to full fill the world demand as it would bring in foreign currency to our economy and this would definitely uplift the Indian economy.
